Both the cultural similarities and differences create the so-called "Korean Wave" in China: while the cultural similarities make the Korean dramas more "real" to Chinese audiences (esp. youngsters and housewives), the differences make it more interesting, and together, they make the dramas popular in microscale.

However, if a culture wants to get popular in social scale, media should step in.

In Hong Kong's subway, I overheard two women, both about 50-year old, talking about how will HK government spend their money-- the tax they have paid.

I am so surprised by the difference of  HKers and general Mainland people's attitudes toward tax. Which is true that  through taxation governments support their people or people support their government?
